We made the most of the fickle weather that arrived in May. Our home in Taupo was rented so we went to Paekakariki for the weekend. Paekakariki is on the beach just north of Wellington. We took our bikes and had a day cycling the coastal route to Paraparaumu.
The main reason for heading south was to look after Esme while her parents had some “me” time.
We moved into our “housesit” home for the next two months, while Margaret is holidaying in the States & Canada. It is lovely and warm with a great outlook and a beautiful garden.
We have discovered some of the numerous bike tracks in and around Palmerston North, and decided to try one of the more adventurous ones on a day that was well suited for track riding.

Graeme has loved being able to watch the grandchildren playing sport. Here is Lylah’s hockey team having their first win of the season.
Ann has enjoyed having the Palmerston North Family around for one of her roast dinners.
Drove over to New Plymouth to celebrate Noeline’s Birthday with a group of old friends. This entailed the usual high standard of drinks & nibbles on Friday night followed by 10km return walk along the Coastal Walkway on Saturday afternoon. The weekend was topped off with a celebration dinner at Noeline’s daughters home on Saturday night.
Friday night nibbles

Had a few days in Christchurch where the four Smith Brothers got together to share nostalgia stories from childhood and school days that occurred six decades ago.

Cheers
