70th Birthday

It’s been 5 years since the “Smith Boys” got together.
So what better time to do this than to Celebrate a Birthday.

Robin & Cathy flew in from Brisbane, and Neville & Donna Flew to Rotorua where we picked them up. Ross and Marion Drove down from Papamoa. We caught up on all the family news over a few drinks in the courtyard of our house in Taupō.

It was good to be able to sit around the dining table again.

Cath, Paul, Jake & Esme drove up from Wellington and joined us for brunch at the Hub.

It was on to the Aratiatia Rapids in time to watch the spillway gates open and experience the spectacular display of the water rushing down the riverbed.

Time-lapse of the water filling the narrow gorge.

We then all boarded the Huka Falls cruise for a trip up the Waikato River to the base of the Huka falls

The Huka Falls were spectacular from this angle

Then it was back home for the traditional photo of the “Four Boys” this is the pose that we have been doing since primary school.

The wives got into the picture

After the final meal it was time to hit the road

Ann & I did get to ride the Whakaipo Bay to Kinloch track with the help of Robin & Cathy as the transport operators.

Cheers

  1. Happy birthday…but what are you doing bringing all of us in when you need a few days to have a breather? Well…I would!
